Had arranged to meet Dan at Pendam at 9:30 but he wasn't there. I waited until 9:40 and then set off around the Pendam Trail on my own. Once I got going I decided to time myself so started putting in a bit of effort. I was at the Visitor Centre within 16 minutes so though I'd be on for a good time. Italian Job went well and then I saw Dan at Spaghetti Junction and told him I was timing myself as I went past.

He followed along behind, but I started slowing on the final few bits. In the end my time was 40:45, quite a long way off my personal best of 37:22.

Dan and I then headed off past Syfyddrin on the Conti Trail and then up to the right at the ford. This part was quite dry so we went off exploring thr XMer trails through the woods at the top. This turned out to be a mixture of deep wet ruts and great little sections of trail including a rocky drop which we both attempted but bottled. The final decent to Nant y Moch was great though. Unfortunately it doesn't look as though it will ever dry out properly. I almost lost my bike at one point as the front wheel dropped into some thick mud right up to the top of the fork lowers. I dismounted slowly over the front, but it tok some pulling to get the bike back out of the mud.

A good morning out though in perfect conditions
